Air-to-Air Photoshoot

With some fantastic sunny skies this afternoon, we took the opportunity to fly the Vampire after some maintenance tasks were carried out earlier in the month. After arriving late morning to complete our pre-flight procedures and preparations, we were lucky enough to be able to arrange a Cessna 172 photoship to capture some Air-to-Air photos of the aircraft over the Leicestershire countryside.

The Cessna departed Coventry at 1430 headed for Rugby, and was joined by the Vampire around 15 minutes later. We completed the formation element of the flight between Bruntingthorpe, Leicester and Market Harborough between 3000-4000ft, which provided a great range of scenic backdrops between the clouds and over the countryside.

Formation flying always takes some planning but is great fun and indeed very satisfying when it all comes together. Formation training, alonside other advanced training elements, is available on WZ507 to suitably qualified pilots – please do contact us if you’d be interested.

We’d like to express our thanks to Tim Hallett for very kindly allowing us the use of his Cessna to capture these photos. He recently acquired G-BJDW and moved the aircraft to Coventry where he intends to offer flight training and hourbuilding packages in his beautifully appointed long-range C172.

As ever, we hope to fly the aircraft again in the not too distant future depending on the ever changable autumn weather, and hope that we will soon be able to confirm plans for another evening and night event for photographers shortly after the New Year – stay tuned.

We saw this fly over Market Harborough yesterday about 15.00 hrs. My husband identified it at once and this morning he searched the internet and found this article. Is it possible the unidentfied Manor House is East Carlton house near Corby. It looks very much like it.

Saw WZ5 07 circle round twice over Gumley to Harborough accompanied by Cessna.
I’m 90% sure photo is Dingley Hall. Photo from Cessna is identical to Dingley Hall for sale site.
I am familiar with the countryside around Market Harborough.
